Public Meeting Notices Empty Public Meeting Notices

I know everyone must have busy lives, but is it too much to ask that advance, in-world notices be sent prior to public meetings? How about posting a notice in a highly visible spot on the website's forum as well? Notices were sent before the last couple of public meetings. Although, today's meeting time was mentioned in last week's meeting minutes, since no advance, in-world notice was sent, I wrongly presumed that today's meeting was cancelled. I seriously doubt most members would go to the trouble of digging through minutes for such information. Having said all of that, it was to my shock and dismay that, about 11:15 AM SL, a notice was sent reminding us of the meeting already in progress!

I don't understand the inconsistency and would encourage the appropriate chairperson to send in-world notices well in advance or at least post it on the website in a highly visible spot. The group has added several new people and I'm sure all the general membership would greatly appreciate the information. Thank you.

I actually checked the minutes again at 11, and learned too late I was supposed to read into it that meetings are public. My interpretation was ambiguous.

I'm not sure it's interpretation that's ambiguous. I think it's just inconsistency between minutes and notices and definition of 'regular' and 'public' meetings. The in-world notice that was sent today, after the meeting had been in progress for 15-20 minutes, referred to it as a Public meeting. It was the same for the notices for the October 4, and September 27 meetings. The minutes for those meetings also refer to the next meeting as "regular" in nature. So, a little confusion.........maybe all meetings are public...... I guess if I show up to one and it's one of the secret, sacrifice-a-chicken private meetings, someone will show me the "door." I'm sure my dignity will recover.

Perhaps this is one of those little things that need to be spelled out in bylaws. I'm just saying.........

I would like to mention that this past meeting did Fall on a Canadian Holiday, With many of our Committee, staff and voulinteers being Canadian, this meeting was harder to organize due to real life Family events.

I would think that the SP members would be a bit understanding of that, as after the meeting we received many positive comments how we are organized and took the time to host a meeting when many of us were busy.

I'd hope the Committee would be a bit understanding that many regular SP members take valuable time out of their lives to attend scheduled Public meetings. Advance, in-world notices would be greatly appreciated as well as notices on the forum.

It would benefit the membership AND the board to get as much debate and discussion out of the way HERE on the forums, and leave to the meetings the task of last minute board discussion and final board decisions.
