The Kiosk Question Empty The Kiosk Question

Post  Rimpoche Kiama Mon Jul 20, 2009 9:08 am

Hey People!

First of all, thanks to Stryker Jenkins for presenting the "kiosk" today. Good work boss. Smile

Now it was suggested that at events (mainly I believe the main festival) that there should be some kind of donation thermometer-type tip jar set up. This'd be the place to discuss that.

Let the debate begin! Smile

Donation thermometers are known to be seen around clubs who count on their guests to pay the rent by placing thermometer tip jars which show how much is needed.

If I understand well this would mean setting a goal for 2010 donations and (hopefully) at some point the goal would be reached and the thermometer would show that.

What remains unclear is if that system will be on the kiosks or separated? And will it be for all events or just the main Festival?

If on the kiosk I see no problem as all would be synchronized well and one item would need to be rezzed only. What remains to do if you wish to add this is to set a goal amount. Which would be a new concept we never tried before, worth trying I think.

If the system would come separately it should at least be scripted to be linked to the kiosks amount, and should it be able to receive tips as well, this should also automatically update the kiosk's amount.

The Kiosk Question Empty Re: The Kiosk Question

Post  Eaglewoman Lightfoot Thu Jul 23, 2009 12:19 pm

hey all!
I'm going to post here what I just posted in the committee room for your perusal re: kiosks.

"I think the thermometer thing is not all that complicated. The thing about using something like this....when it is on stage with a DJ/performer and they refer to it, refer to the donations being made right then and there and "tout" it, people become excited. They begin to "feel" connected to the event, part of, not just showing up somewhere to dance. It may be a bit of a pain in the ass to add monies from 2 kiosks rather than just one but might be worth it in the end. There also does not really have to be a "top" amount, or, "goal" amount on it....it could just be a gauge of where we are at, in real time.
I watched most of the people who came to Pride this past year just be visitors, just come to dance and I think this would enable them to feel like they truly belong to and in Pride.

I do think when placed onstage with a DJ/performer, this could be an awesome "tool". I also think it's a great opportunity to try something new and see how it might work."

This forum is open to discussion of secondary collection systems, not connected via scripts to the kiosk system.

The Treasurer finds it very unwise to employ any secondary collection system.
