Between 1000 and 2000 people participated in the Gay Pride march saturday in the streets of Budapest for the 14th edition. The event was placed under heavy Police force protection and happened without violence towards the participants, unlike last year. A few hundreds of anti-gay protesters tried to stop the march by burning rainbow flags and provoking the Police but were quickly scattered by them.

Last week 13 embassies and Whoopi Goldberg had shown their support to the Hungarian LGBT community... This without a doubt pushed the local authorities to put all their efforts into avoiding any similar problems to the ones of the Gay Pride 2008.
