My post is timestamped to just after midnight SLT.
No official announcement yet, but apparently we can say congrats to Lemo!

Both candidates have been heavily supported, one has been leading all the time until it came to a tie near the end but still it was an exciting election to say the least.

At least we can all agree to say that this time no one can claim one wasn't given a chance. I hope that we can now all let the committee continue their term with all the unity they are seeking. And salute what was definitely a very interesting demovratic election.

??? I seem to have spoken too fast. At 12:00 exactly there was 1 more in favor of Lemo... Just after my post one other vote appeared. But it was supposed to close at 12... Odd

It reloads as you hit "refresh"

but if the vote was made seconds after the clock hit 12 it could have been taken in. Because I did see another score precisely on the hour. Since I hit refresh continuously for a live feed.

Ok a tie

So what now?

I would not mind another considering some things. But I'm guessing it won't happen like that. Prolly the chairman or the committee will get to pick, even though they already voted ( would be a double vote ).

But that's only my guess about how it'll happen. Unless we re-open the vote for 6 or 12h since there are still 9 people that haven't voted and that could make a difference.

According to the charter... which does not address special election situations.... but does discuss under elections that if there is a tire... there is a revote... if there is a seond tie... THEN they can agree to serve as co-chairman.... or work it out other ways... that the charter does not specify...

Does the log show the last vote was after midnight? Please verify. I saw the same thing as Zack, and unfortunately that is inconclusive.

Nope Lemo you're right in this case. If you saw that at 1200 it was also not a tie, the fact that you're a candidate makes your observation weightless...

However we're left here with a tie, we all have to accept that and wait for the committee decision whether based on remarks here or on the charter as described by Doc. But it is my hope they will pick the decision that will result in leaving no room for protest and that anyone will have to agree with. In other words, a diplomatic solution.

I would like you to remember something if the vote was posted several seconds after midnight that probably means the vote was in process at midnight so there for it would count also it is possible that a slower connection could be responsible. I have no idea where we need to proceed or how but I do know that it must e a fair system.

In looking at the charter, we have solutions for ties in general elections. However, in special circumstances we must look to create precident while taking consideration of the existing regulations.

In this respect, I would like to ask both candidates to co-chair as Treasurer. Each candidate has qualities that are well suited to the position, and unless Lemonodo or EagleWoman objects, I would consider the colaboration the most constructive solution in this situation.

However, in the event this is not suitable to either candidate, I will instruct the Secretary to re-open another poll to run from midnight Saturday until Midnight Sunday, this comming week-end.

Sincerely,

Rimpoche Kiama
Second Pride Chair, 2010

That seems to be a fair proposal as it leaves the choice to the candidates.

I beleive this is a good idea Rimpoche. As long as both are on the same level then and none "above" the other.

Could be an asset for the committee as well to have two people managing donations for safety etc... And it would bring your team to nine people as a total, better for committee votes to have an uneven number.

And for those who are curious - I voted at 11:59 precisely. It was good to see that the poll was actually open til midnight.

I would think that there would be more concern over capturing the will of all the voting members would be more important than questioning the result based on a technicality. Is this approach what we might expect going forward, if Lemonodo is elected?

Again, congratulations to both!

I agree with you completely on how important it is to capture your true will as a voter. This is Charter, not technicality. I and one other person saw a poll change on refresh at midnight. No one is willing to produce the logs. This is indicative of the kind of obscurity Lemonodo would not tolerate with your money. Only transparency, line items if needed, will do.

The fact that it is such an issue is what I was referring to - not the mechanics behind the process. It also goes to the question of how you see the role - as a "position of power" or serving the community.

If it's the power, then the question of who won or lost - and whether votes are valid - becomes an issue. If it's the latter, then this becomes a point of not much discussion.

There is a lot of discussion here.
